Deep tissue massage is a type of massage technique which uses deep pressure. Combining slow strokes and notable finger pressure, the purpose is to release the tension and tightness held in your muscles and your connective tissues. A deep tissue massage will typically focus on your primary areas of discomfort.
Is there a difference between swedish massage and deep tissue massage?
Yes.
Swedish massage uses long strokes and light-to-firm pressure to provide gentle relaxation. Deep tissue massage is a more forceful deeper technique that releases tension deep in the muscles and connective tissues. Discomfort is normal with this type of massage therapy.
